Swans

I drove to Niles today and had coffee with my friend Ed, then we walked along the St. Joseph River and saw these Swans .
The settlement of Niles was founded on the banks of the St. Joseph River as Fort St. Joseph in 1691, because this area offered the region’s safest river crossing. The Potowatomi Indians called this shallow, well-graveled ford a “pawating” and used it for centuries on their annual migration to summer on the shores Lake Michigan.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Katie, Jordan, Julie,

and didn't get the picture in focus .

Dead Cardinal

I killed this bird, then had it stuffed, placed a seed in it's beak, then took this picture .. Cardinals are a lot easier to photograph when their not hopping all over the place.

Starling

In Europe, starlings are often kept as pets because they can be taught to whistle tunes. If you whistle a simple tune about 50 times over the course of three days it will learn to repeat it in the exact sound and pitch of your whistle, they can even mimic words such as "pretty bird" . In fact, in the wild they can be mistaken for robins and red-winged blackbirds because they learn to imitate the calls of other birds they flock with.
